Aftercare

Thank you to everyone who has been part of Aftercare, the McKendree UMC After School Program. With few affordable childcare options in the area, McKendree Elementary staff reached out in 2016 to see if the church would offer a low-cost after-school program at the school. Since then about 500 students have participated in Aftercare.

We are thrilled that Gwinnett County has partnered with Right-At-School for the 2024-2025 school year to provide afterschool programs with tutoring, sports, and leadership training. The program will also offer drop-in options and half-day programs on school holidays.

More information about the Right-At-School program is available here.

Of course, McKendree UMC remains committed to our namesake elementary school. We are active in KidsHope USA , a faith-based mentoring program for children at McKendree Elementary School. You can see the impact on volunteers in the note Pastor Cyndi wrote after attending their celebration lunch.

If you are a former Aftercare participant and need information about payments for tax purposes, please contact the Aftercare Director Laura James.
